Sarah Amer is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who brings together over a decade of combined experience in the field to provide high quality food and nutrition services to individuals and businesses both virtually and in person throughout the beautiful Hudson Valley region of New York. Her areas of expertise include weight management, food safety, food allergies and sensitivities, the halal diet, cross-cultural sensitivity, breastfeeding, and maternal, child, and infant health. She has been featured for her expertise in numerous publications, including the New York Times, the Hartford Courant, and Today's Dietitian, among many others.
Sarah currently works as a business consultant helping food/beverage companies and nonprofits connect to their audiences through health communications, and as an independent nutrition counselor guiding individuals towards achieving impactful yet achievable health goals. She is also an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the largest organization of food and nutrition professionals in the world, and is the Co-Founder and Past Chair of Muslims in Dietetics and Nutrition (MIDAN), the Academy’s first faith-based member interest group. Sarah is a magna cum laude graduate of New York University, where she earned bachelor's and master's of science degrees in nutrition. Her professional training was completed at New York University's dietetic internship program in affiliation with the Montefiore Medical Center of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
In her spare time, Sarah is a self-admitted adventure-junkie who enjoys hiking, rock climbing, and nature photography. And yes, she loves eating, too (in moderation, of course)! Her guilty pleasure: pasta. She lives in Orange County, NY with a 6-year-old son who never stops talking and a fiery cat named Gazpacho.
